SUMMARY:9/11 Memorial 5K Run~Walk and Kids Fun Run
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, September 13th at Gorham Recreational Center\, Gorham\, Maine. Kids run at 8:30 a.m. & 5K ~9:15 a.m.  \nThis race benefits the Stephen G. Ward Memorial Scholarship Fund.  Steve was young\, vibrant\, and ambitious when he was so needlessly taken from us on September 11th\, 2001. He was a funny\, charismatic\, and loving son\, brother\, uncle\, and friend\, and was climbing a promising career ladder at Cantor Fitzgerald. He was one of the best and the brightest\, a symbol of what America lost that tragic day. This event is to honor and remember Steve\, and all of those we lost that day. \nFree event t-shirt for the first 100 registered 5K participants! \nKids’ Fun Run starts at the adjacent Gorham High School track at 8:30 AM. Children aged 8 years and under will run one lap (0.25 miles)\, while children aged 9 to 12 years old will run two laps (0.50 miles). \n5K will start after all the parents return from the kids’ fun run and the uniformed emergency responders\, who complete the 5K course in full gear\, are sent off. After race director remarks and the National Anthem\, the 5K runners and walkers are sent off. Typically\, this happens between 9:10 and 9:25. \nIf the race is canceled due to extreme weather conditions or any other conditions beyond our control\, we will not be able to refund registration fees. \n\nVideo of the National Anthem at the start\nVideo of firefighters finishing the race\nVideo of firefighters starting the race\n2025 Race Photos\n2025 Results\nUSATAF Certified Course\nFacebook\nGoogle Maps for Start Location\n\n\nNo fees at checkout
